Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway (also known as Sheikh Jaber Bridge) is a bridge connecting Kuwait City to Subiya in northern Kuwait. It spans a distance of 48.53 kilometers, making it one of the longest bridges in the world. This bridge was designed by a consortium of companies from Denmark, the United States, and Kuwait and it was built at a cost of $3.6 billion. It was inaugurated in May 2019 by the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The bridge has six lanes in each direction, and it is expected to reduce travel time between the two cities from 70 to 20 minutes. The bridge is an engineering marvel, built to withstand harsh weather conditions and withstand earthquakes up to 7.5 magnitude. It is named after the Emir of Kuwait, who passed away in September 2020, and is a symbol of Kuwait's commitment to development and progress.
